Timothy G. Richard
Timothy G. Richard is a life-long resident of North Dakota, growing up on a family farm
just south of Fargo. Tim currently lives in Fargo with his wife Shelly and daughter
Ashley. Tim and his family enjoy camping, hunting and fishing, and many outdoor activities
and sports.
Tim received his undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University in 1992,
obtaining a B.S. in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. After working for
Prudential Insurance and Great Plains Software, Tim entered the University of North Dakota
School of Law. He graduated from the UND School of Law in 1997 with distinction. Tim was a
member of the Board of Editors of the North Dakota Law Review and has been published in
that journal as well. Tim was a member of the Environmental Law Society and participated
in the Pace University Environmental Law Moot Court Competition.
After graduating from law school, Tim served for two years as law clerk to U.S. Magistrate
Judge Karen K. Klein in Fargo. Tim joined the Serkland Law Firm in 1999, where he focuses
his practice on estate planning and probate, real estate and business law.
The Serkland Law Firm is one of the oldest law firms in North Dakota, being established in
1888, and provides a full range of legal services. Tim is licensed in North Dakota and
Minnesota and is a member of the Real property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State
Bar Association of North Dakota, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Cass County Bar
Association and the Red River Valley Estate Planning Council.
