He is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, the Dane County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the ABA, and the Madison Estate Planning Council. Edward F. (Foss) Hooper practices comprehensive estate planning with an emphasis on techniques that minimize estate taxes for the current generation and that eliminate them for future generations. Mr. Hooper received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a Master of Science degree in Business Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. After graduation Mr. Hooper served as a Captain in the United States Army and was a Senior Systems Engineer for IBM. He attended Marquette University Law School where he received his Juris Doctor degree summa cum laude. Attorney Hooper received the George L. Laikin Award in estate planning, the Joseph I. Swietlik Award in taxation, and the Law Alumni Award for having the highest academic average in his class. Attorney Hooper is the fourth generation of his family to be a member of the Wisconsin State Bar. He founded the Hooper Law Office as a practice dedicated to estate and wealth transfer planning, with emphasis on dynasty trusts and multigenerational planning. Foss believes in comprehensive, macro planning that combines multiple techniques to form a complete and understandable family plan that addresses the needs of both current and future generations. He also believes in the team approach to estate planning, combining members of the accounting, financial planning, insurance, and estate planning professions into a team of family advisors. Foss believes one of the most important contributions he makes when he develops and implements an estate plan is educating everyone involved. Foss has a strong commitment to charitable planning and to community service. He is currently on the board of the Visiting Nurses Foundation and has served as both an elder and a deacon of his church. Foss gives educational presentations throughout Wisconsin on estate planning and charitable giving. He served as a continuing education instructor for the Society of Financial Services Professionals and has spoken at state meetings of the Wisconsin Association of Life Underwriters and the Wisconsin Fraternal Insurance Councilors. Foss and his wife Mary have a daughter, Beth, who works as a marketing research analyst in Chicago and a son, Ted, who is a CPA in Phoenix.
